Holy Week Schedule
March 31, 2010
Maundy Thursday, April 1, 7:30 pm (First Communion for 5th Graders)
We remember Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples which began with the surprise of the foot washing. That night, too, the Passover meal was changed into the Christian sacrament of Holy Communion as Jesus said, “This is my body, given for you. .. . This is my blood, shed for you.” Holy Communion will be celebrated and 5th grade students will be welcomed to their first communion after a study of the sacrament.
Good Friday, April 2, 7:30 pm
This service remembers Jesus’ death on the cross. Despite the horror of crucifixion, we have come to remember this as “Good” Friday because by it, Jesus paid for our sin, and won our salvation.
Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 3, 5:15 pm
We meet in the Social Hall, remembering the disciples hiding out in the Upper Room after the crucifixion. Like them, we will hear stories of God’s victory in times of darkness, and end the service anticipating the new life of Easter. There is no Communion at this service.
Easter Sunday, April 4
7:00 am—Sunrise Service with Communion
8:00 am – 10:00 am—Easter Breakfast served by the Youth
This is a fundraiser for youth activities throughout the year.
10:15 am—Worship with Holy Communion
On this greatest day of the church year we celebrate again Jesus’ resurrection, and his defeat of sin, death and the devil assuring us of forgiveness and new life.
